Create and edit your website in a flash

Posted on : Wed, 16 Sep App: Snaplive

While Snaplive is only in private alpha mode at the moment, I can see it being a brilliant and cost effective way of creating and editing great looking websites in the not too distant future. It is an open source and easy to use CMS (or content management system) that utilizes a new concept for putting a website together without the need for programming knowledge. Rather than spending a small fortune creating your website and having someone spending time on updating your information, Snaplive let's you edit your website directly onto the page in real-time and can be used in conjunction with virtually any website immediately.   Snaplive offers a different take on website creation by offering a service using in-context editing. This means that your information can be edited directly within the page with the finished product being viewable immediately. Snaplive lets you edit your page without having to go to a separate admin page. instead, all your content is edited directly on top of the actual website. Creating pages as well as adding and editing content is super-intuitive and you can view the finished product as you change things around, saving you lots of time. You can add any kind of content that you like using drag and drop technology including formatted text, images and more. Snaplive will automatically generate and integrate the content for you and will create a picture if you dropped a single image, a gallery if you dropped multiple images, and a text block if you dropped selected text or a text file.  It works with virtually any existing website or theme by  just adding  an HTML5 attribute to the div that contains your editable content and you can be done in a matter of minutes. The app works great by itself but also works on top of WordPress (or any other system being used) with everything kept synchronized automatically. You can switch between using Snaplive's cool features and WordPress in a flash so there is no more having to go back and forth between pages to edit your content.   As i mentioned earlier, Snaplive is in private alpha at the moment but, when released to the general public, it will be released free and open source  under the very permissive MIT license. It was designed to make life easier for developers and designers and aims to make it easy to transform any existing website or theme into a Snaplive-powered site. It only takes a couple of minutes to install and integrating it into any template or layout is a matter of adding a few HTML5 attributes - a simple 2-minutes job. If this s of interest to you, get in touch with Snaplive for further details.
